Booking Princess Cruise for non US/Canada residents
This info is mainly for those who live outside the USA/Canada who want to book a Princess Cruise through an agent in those countries We have booked previous cruises RCL through
www.cruisesonly.com and this year having decided to do Island Princess to the Panama Canal in December booked our Transatlantic flights to fit in I read these pages often so this year shopped around and compared prices It was only then when I tried to book that I discovered Princess Cruises will not allow it In otherwords I would have to book locally OK you may say whats the problem Well the problem is it would have cost well over a $1000 more for the same cabin and that was for an inside one I didn’t compare any others. I don’t understand why they do it other than it is ‘their policy’ to book locally Needless to say we did not book this cruise but have chosen to go with RCL Independence of the Seas in December and are really looking forward to it If anyone knows the reason for this ‘policy’ I would to love to know why

Recently the same is happening on Holland America Lin2 - at least for dutch passengers,maybe also for other europeans.
But our US agent told us if we could give him an USA address (like the one from friends) it would be o.k. So contact your Travelagent and check if you can do that.
It is crazy how much higher the european prices are compared with those in the USA.

This has been all over cruisecritic as well. I do wonder why. Maybe Europeans can afford to spend more as the exchange is so in favor of the Euro now. Perhaps the cruise cos. think they can always sell out to US residents so they are in a position to charge more to Euros and thus make more money. Just speculating. Has it always been this way even when the Euro was on a par with the dollar or B4 there were Euros? I do think its unfair. JM2C.

Booking a cruise in USA for non USA citizens should not be a problem, even if cruise reps tell you different (sometimes they don't know what they are talking about). USA address was not required. I know it since I booked it for my friends from Europe through my agent, and not just one cruise line. You can check with him if you want: Alex at [email protected].
