We are planning to visit Hopewell Rocks and Fundy park in August and we also considering to visit Reversing Falls in Saint John or tidal bore in Moncton.Which one is more interesting to see?

Hi Dina,<BR><BR>Just returned from a 2 week driving trip through the Atlantic Provinces. Hopewell Rocks were one of the high points of the trip--glad you plan on that one for sure. There are many places to view the tidal bore, and we chose a farm outside of Charlottown (in Prince Edward Island). We stayed at the Delta Hotel in Moncton, however, and there was a park close to that from which to view the tidal bore as well.Rather than a spectacular "surge" of water the tidal bore consists of a 6 inch to 2 foot wave that slowly progresses through and fills an empty channel. It is interesting but slow. We also visited St. John and the Reversing Falls but due to the timing of this phenonema didn't catch the process. There is a powerful, rushing, large waterfall and, at a certain time of day, the water from the Bay of Fundy fills up the lower channel (into which the waterfall has emptied) and slowly overtakes the waterfall by filling to a higher level (thus the reverse). You would have to spend quite a long time to see the entire process, and, when we were there, it would have started to occur around 1 A.M. The reversing waterfall is in a rather industrial area, and has the distinct "aroma" of industry combined with fish, and might not be that inviting a place to spend the time necessary. My vote, then, goes to the tidal bore. Do make sure,however, to check the exact times (which vary each day)for all three of these. There are certain restrictions at Hopewell Rocks as to when it is safe to walk amongst the rocks. We thought, before we went, that you stand on a platform and view the rocks, but were pleased to learn that we could actually walk along the long, rocky beach and take great pictures of the many formations. The tidal bore in Moncton is a joke, I go to the university in moncton for 4 years now and I didnt even bother to look at the tidal bore, it used to be big, but because of the new bridge and environment problems, you can hardly notice it anymore. Its thrue st-john is highly industrial, it smells bad!! If you go to moncton, stay at the crystal palace hotel, which I believe is now a ramada
