What to see in Syria?
Thinking of doing a 10 day trip to Syria in May. Anyone been there? Any opinions on the places I shouldn't miss? Best things to visit in Aleppo and Damascus?

Damascus and Aleppo big dirty cities, so you've got to get out on the roads. At sights, at least you won't find crowds! I dream of Palmyra and Byblos - love old ruins.
Note: If American, there is a State Dept Warning. I don't believe it's a "no go", but see what they have to say.
