Xunantunich vs Tikal
We're heading to Belize for the first time this coming February... if you had to choose between Tikal or Xunantunich, from those who have done both, what would you do? Dont believe we'll have time for both... planning to stay in San Ignacio for 3 nights and do the ATM tour while based there. Would appreciate any insight!

Just chiming in to say I'd vote Tikal but feel that it's worth an overnight so you get to explore the jungle and Maya site in the cooler evening and early morning hours when wildlife is active and you practically have the place to yourselves.
Here's the latest I've heard on the ticket changes for Tikal: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntr...banrural-banks

I did Tikal and ATM.
ATM is the most important thing... It was the greatest travel experience I have had to this day.
If you have the cash, stay at the Blanceaux Lodge, it was, again, best resort I have ever been on. Expensive but worth it.

Just as an aside, we stayed at La Lancha when we visited Tikal. Another couple there was headed to Blancaneaux afterwards. They wrote us to say that as much as we all loved La Lancha, Blancaneaux was even better,
