US to Argentina Nov 28, passport expires March 7, 2018
I'm flying LAX to Buenos Aires, AG on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. 'Just really looked at my passport and discovered that it EXPIRES MARCH 28, 2018. Yikes!!!
Called American Air and they said probably no problem, but not responsible if there is a problem.
I am a natural born citizen and this is my 4th passport!
In 2015, I paid $160 for my 10 year Reciprocity to Argentina and I have eight years left I understand, since Obama's trip to Argentina, it is no longer necessary to pay this fee.
I tried contacting the Argentine Consulate in LA, but because its Friday/Thanksgiving weekend, have not been able to connect.
MY QUESTION: 1) Will LAX security let me fly to AG and 2) will Buenos Aires let me fly back to my LA home. If you have any experience with a situation like this, please, please give me some advice.
I am not in a financial position to loose money on this trip Please HELP!
Thanks, Janet

Janet: you don´t say when you are returning to the US.
Unless your stay in Argentina is very long, I don´t see why there should be a problem.
Any chance of renewing your passport on Monday, to be on the safe side?
Anyway, you´ll have a great time in my country, Janet.

The places to check for questions like this are the State Department travel advisory pages and the embassy/consulate web site of the relevant country.
It appears that you will not have a problem:
https://travel.state.gov/content/pas...argentina.html
As far as I know there would not be an issue coming back in any case, your passport could expire the next day - but obviously not a good idea to cut it that close in case of accidents....

You would have no problem re-entering the States. Simply not an issue.
However >>Will LAX security let me fly to AG<< It has nothing at all to do with security at LAX. The first person deciding will be the AA agent at LAX. S/he will examine your documents when you check in and decide if you can board the planer or not. The length of your passport validity should be fine but they are the ones who make the determination.
The second person involved is the Immigration officer in BA. Again -- the validity is probably fine, but that person will have the final say so (as happens everywhere in the world)

As long as you areleaving before March 28, there should not be a problem. The State dept states t "PASSPORT VALIDITY:
Must be valid at time of entry" So you should be ok.
In terms of the reciprocity fee, you are correct that it has been rescinded.
