Which Caribbean island?

Looking for a Caribbean island that offers great hiking for next April vacation. We are a family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 teens). We are avid hikers - any suggestions are appreciated! I've seen that St. John's has great hiking..... any other recommendations?

St. John, USVI does have good hiking, as well as nice beaches, sailing, etc. If hiking is the main goal, I'd look at Dominica...

Agree, Dominica is fantastic for hiking - it's an eco-tourists delight. One trail alone is over 115 miles in length and there are scores more of shorter trails all around the island. You can hike up mountains, hike to waterfalls, hike to hot springs, you can hike to scenic overlooks, you can hike along the coast, you can hike through rainforests. In short you can hike all day long for a month and not see it all.

Other islands with good hiking are the mountainous islands noted for their rainforests like: St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada. Of course, you can also hike on later arid islands but arid scenery may not be as nice.

Guadeloupe is mountainous and has many hiking trails, volcanos, waterfalls etc and a National Park. I believe parts of it are designated a biosphere reserve.

Nevis offers wonderful hiking. The island itself is quaint full of old Caribbean charm. Lots of history and beautiful plantation houses. Beaches are ok. Some very good restaurants and you can easily rent a car and explore the island on your own.
Grenada will have lots of hiking options as well and a dormant volcano national park - Grand Etang (you can look it up). It is a much bigger island and to me lacks a bit of charm. Does have a nice combination of white and dark sand beaches. Road are very hilly and narrow roads on much of the island - not suitable in my opinion to rent a car and drive around on your own. Most folks hire tour guides explore.
I have personally not been to Saba known for diving and hiking but you may want to research and see if it is suitable for your family.

Jamaica is a good place to consider as well (I'm from here). There's the Blue Mountains Tour which is excellent. You get to go on a nice long hike (recommended that you go with a tour guide).

There's also other places that have little trails and other adventures you can experience as well.

Martinique is Much better than Guadeloupe for hiking. There are many marked trails with all kind of scenery (Mountain pelée, rainforest, mangrove, coastal walk)
