Bhutan... Have You Been

I am planning a 5D/4N trip and would appreciate your input especially your travel agency experiences.

Hi DMBTraveler,

I had visited Bhutan last December and I must say that it was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. It is a unique country with its culture and tradition protected well indeed. Our guide, Tshering and our driver, Sangay, were very helpful and made us feel at home throughout the journey. The hotels we put up in (Phuntsho Pelri, olathang etc) were clean and comfortable and the staff were very welcoming too. Btw, the travel agent we used is Bhutan Next Travels and they did a great job in ensuring the entire trip was smooth and worthy of the price tag.
They also gave us a farewell dinner at the end of our trip and this made it all the more special! I wish to visit soon again!!!

I have not but you may find this interesting. Its a TR from the late, great The Dogster who used to be on this forum and who provided so many great reports. Member Sassafras and I and my wife met him in 2011 on the Connie cruise to the Holy land. What a character. He left us too soon, way too soon. .

We traveled with the Noble Traveler and cannot speak too highly of them (see my trip report 2015). I also think well of John Leopold who leads trips from his company Champaca Journeys.

Do go--it's magical and it will change.

That's a pretty short trip. I take it you won't be hiking? I would stongly urge you to make sure your visit coincides with one of the festivals.

Haven't used DrukAsia, but I do believe it is a good and reliable operator (from what I've heard)

Thanks for input... I have decided to go with DrukAsia. A 5D trip that includes seeing a festival with round-trip airfare from Bangkok will cost me about 2K.

Price seems reasonable since airfare alone is about $800.
