If you want to pre-purchase -- order directly from the individual theatres/companies. When you go to the theatre websites sometimes they send to a booking site and sometimes they process the tickets themselves, but in either case -- that is the best place to purchase.

If you want to wait til you are in London, either at the TKTS booth in Leicester Square, or at the theatre box offices

Thank you, janisj. I want to save money, but I also don't want to miss out on shows either. I think I should book the Book of Mormon in advance.

Yes -- Book of Mormon would be one you definitely want to pre-book if you want any sort of choice of seats.

You might want to look at this site:www.londontheatre.co.uk

It has reviews, which I think you may appreciate, as well as links for buying tickets. We have used it more than once in the past and have been very pleased with the seat selections and the overall services rendered.

The site dukey linked is very good -- I've received his newsletter for more than 18 years (and have had a couple of reviews I've written published on the site)

It is my go to site for winnowing down all the many possibilities.

@janisj--what is the address of the site you mentioned? Google search didn't pull anything up for "dukey linked".

I meant the site Dukey1 included in his post just above mine. Click on the link and londontheatre comes up.

Also check out the English National Theater for their productions. They have interesting plays and really nice lobby spaces for eating and drinking on the Southbank near Waterloo Station.

Bringing this thread back, sorry! Do you all think that we should pre-book for David Tennant's new show "Don Juan in Soho"? It doesn't even open until March, 2016 but it is only scheduled through June. So it could be a sold out hit or a one night flop. Anyone have a crystal ball??

I would absolutely pre book and as far ahead as you can. Limited runs w/ major stars sell out. (I just returned from London and saw No Man's Land w/ Ian Mckellan and Patrick Stewart -- limited run and totally sold out months ahead)
