Looking at flights for June 2017. Best options is a flight departing Dubrovnik via Rome to Lyon with Vueling. I have had no experience of this airline, nor do I know anyone who has flown with them.
Are they similar to Easyjet?

Flew Barcelona-Paris with Vueling several years ago. No issues, no problems, no worries. As with all airlines, individual experiences can vary, but Vueling is well known in Europe (based in Spain) and is owned by International Airlines Group which also owns and operates British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus in addition to Vueling.

I haven't flown them but they are similar in that they fly a lot of shorter intra-Europe routes at usually lower prices. They are dissimiliar in that they are actually owned by a company that alos owns Iberia and British Airways whereas Easyjet is independent. THus, Vueling has lots of partner airlines that codeshare (BA, Iberia and Aer Lingus). So you could book a BA flight on that route and it could end up being Vueling, anyway.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like they are a well established airline in Europe with reputable connections. It does seem like our best option for flights with the least connection times.

Part of our family flew them from Palma, Mallorca to Barcelona and the other group from Palma, Mallorca to Marseille. No problems and a very good experience.

We had a good flight on Vueling from Amsterdam to Venice. No problems.

As long as you think of Vueling (or easyJet, Ryanair, etc.) as a bus with wings rather than a cruise ship that has taken to the air, you should be fine and your budget will be even better. Customers with gripes are more likely to post. It's easy to recognize complaints based on unreasonable expectations. Hey, it's cheap! Someone who thinks the seats are too narrow and produced the worst flight ever will be unhappy anywhere behind business class and must have led a pretty plush life.

Last I flew with them there was a strike. They warned me and refunded me. My boss who was booked on the same flight with Iberia at 3 times the cost was not warned and not refunded.
Go figure... As for the flight experience it was like most of my flights : uneventful on time and safe.
Are the attendants better is the service worse do you have to pay for coffee I don't know I did as in 99% of my flights - fall asleep at take off and wake up at landing. I am an easy client with no expectations.

Thank you for all your comments and confirmations. I guess my biggest hesitation was if they have a bad flight delay and cancellation record. As we will be flying from Dubrovnik and will have a stopover connection in Rome and then on to Lyon.
But it looks like they have good recommendations and the price is right.

I flew with them once and everything was okay. It's just one of those low cost companies.

I've flown Vueling out of Dubrovnik several times, but always to Barcelona, which is their hub. Always easy and on time.

The only flight I ever had a delay on with Vueling was into Rome. Not that it would happen on your journey, but just make sure you have enough layover time.

Flights with Vueling were okay. Just legroom was really tight on my flights - even a bit tighter than on Ryanair. But this should not be a concern unless you're 6'3" or taller.

Looks like Veuling is the go. Their flights suit our time and dates best.
Thankfully the flights are short so lack of leg room won't be for too long.
Its always good to hear from people with first hand knowledge.

I would note rialtogirl's advice to allow plenty of connection time.

Dubrovnik is a challenging airport for pilots, and weather can slow things down, whatever the airline or destination.

Both legs are with Veuling with a 2.5 hour connection in Rome.

We flew Vueling from Barcelona to Lisbon last month and it was fine. Seemed like any other airline to us.

Online booking (3 months in advance) was simple, and we were able to print out our boarding pass before we left the US.

Boarding, plane condition, and flight experience were normal.

As stated earlier in this thread, your experience may vary.

Check to see if there are earlier or later flights than the one you are booking. We booked their only flight of the day and later Vueling changed the departure time by 12 hours so we had to cancel it as we had planned a long drive after landing. We got our refund after three months but had to change our itinerary and incurred steep change fees on our international connection.

Sounds like people on the whole have had a very good experience with Vuelling.

The flights we have been looking at are the only one for the day. There is always a risk if flight times change. Messes with travel plans.
