ITIC teacher discount card + is it worth it?

Are there any teachers on this board? If so, have you ever purchased an ITIC card (teacher discount card)? It's similar to ISIC discount card for students. They cost $16 at my local college with a passport picture. I was reading up on it and apparently it gives you a lot of discounts on certain items and places but I don't know if they would be accepted in Italy and France. I have yet to find a any comments or reviews related to ITIC cards.

Thanks.

I've read that they can be used in all of Europe but haven't seen any quality reviews on exactly what the discounts would be, for where, what etc. I just discovered a directory of teacher discounts at "My Education Discount" (www.myeducationdiscount.com) - maybe they can help.

What kind of discounts would you expect to get in France for being a teacher, and why? I don't get it but I know some museums have discounts for teachers, but they have to be French primary/secondary teachers (like the Louvre), not just any teacher anywhere. They do give discounts to art teachers, though, if you can prove that, not just because you are an accounting teacher, for example. Same is true of any other place in France I've seen teacher discounts, which is rare (I've only seen them in museums, but then with qualifications as to where you are a teacher, as noted). Versailles also only has discounts for teachers in France (they get something called a Pass Education card).

Students don't need special cards in France, either, most discounts are just by age anyway, nothing to do with being a student or not. The ones that are for being a student accept an official school ID with photo, you don't have to pay for some special card.

It's the same for teachers, any place that has such a discount for any teacher of any kind (which I think would be rare), you just need your official employment ID, you don't need to pay someone $25 for a card to supposedly prove you are a teacher, which doesn't make sense if you have proof already and supposedly you have to prove it to the ITIC people to get the card. I think that's a big scam to get money out of people (both the ITIC and student cards).
