"As a real low cost carrier, there is nothing free on board from the water to snacks. They take credit cards but not debit cards. I was looking forward to trying some Icelandic smoked lamb on flatbread and Skyr on the flight that I had read about on other reviews but they have a different menu for their flights departing the US. The attendant made some reference to the US not allowing Skyr. I’m not sure if this some regulatory issue or not. I had the ham panini from the selection which turned out to be surprisingly tasty and flavorful. The return flight had the usual menu and a lot more Icelandic options. We tried the lamb and flatbread and the turkey and bacon sandwiches which were both good. Both flights had one hot option, pizza on the outbound and a cheeseburger on the return. Service was friendly, cheerful, and quick."

I haven't taken WOW, but I liked Icelandair. They gave us free water upon boarding and I was impressed by the leg space. Good customer service too.
125 isn't enough to sway me either way but it might be for you? I'd be sure about the fine print before booking though. But admittedly I'd probably take Icelandair again just to spend a few days in Iceland on the "layover" they offer.

We love Icelandair, and if presented with the opportunity, would probably fly WOW as well. We love spending a few days in Reykyavik before moving on to mainlaind Europe. Thinking about telling DH's kids about these fares so they could maybe come visit us.
I'm not a fussy air traveler. I don't expect much except to get safely to my destination. I have done so many airline trips in my life that I just put up with whatever I need to put up with. I never feel that paying extra to fly somewhere pans out. It's almost always a horror show these days, so the cheaper the better for me.

If you search for WOW there has just been another post, with a link to an article that reports on recent announcements, fares are coming down and WOW is about to fly into "out-of-the-way" US airports they have not so far flown. 2017 could be a year where we all benefit as these budget airlines give each other and also the legacy airlines a run for the money.
Just as we have to do with Spirit and Frontier, and with Ryanair and easyJet for example, we have to adopt a different mindset when evaluating fares and what we get for our money.
If a basic fare (meaning just the transportation from A to B on a randomly assigned seat) is so very low, and if the total we pay is still very cheap even after we pay for what we individually think we need, then we can't fault the airline for being underhanded.
Do you need to be served food on your way across, or can you bring your own sandwich and drink? Do you need a large bag or two, or can you make do with less? Do you care where you sit?
After you add up the fees for those "optionals", plus the basic fare, NOW you can compare fairly with other airlines and their fares, taking into account what it is they offer "included" (which you also pay for, of course).
The founder and boss of WOW made the point that, although on their own website they make it very clear what those "optionals" cost and how it works, people have complained when they booked through TAs who didn't spell all this out.
Those customers booked, only based on the fantastic fare the TA offers (you know, "so and so found us this fantastic fare blah blah blah"), and when they get to the airport with their bags and expectations about assigned seats and food, and find they have to pay extra because the TA didn't bring that up - they are the ones that complain and broadcast their anger.

I flew WOW round trip San Francisco to Rekjavik in October. I knew going in it was a budget airline. Including baggage ($60 for one check in bag) and seating assignment, it was only $800 RT for my hubby and I. I did not expect it to be anything but transportation. Surprising, it was pleasant. Comfy seats, plenty of leg room and very courteous flight attendants. We brought a meal and water/soda on board. I loaded my iPad with movies and brought a book. They are very strict about size of your carry on, but if you read and understand the website, you will have no problem. I would definitely fly them to Iceland again.

My wife and her two sisters just flew Montreal-Edinburgh via Reykjavik. Paid for extra large carryons and reserved extra legroom seats on two of the four legs. Total cost each ticket was $721Can or $560 US. Planes and crew were great.

Woinparis, I can't find anything to Slovenia on this airline. I am very interested in the route... if you have more info please share. I know low cost airlines sometimes only run certain routes at certain times. I may just be looking at the wrong times.
