About the Bus tickets from Berlin TXL to city centre
Hello All,
My family will visit Berlin this month. We will travel the Airport Express Bus from TXL to Metro station (Alexanderplatz), and then travel U2 line.
Do you know the Bus ticket can or cannot be used in the metro line? Do I need to buy another tickets for the metro?
Hope to hear your reply.
Thanks.
Gavin

Short answer:
Yes, it can be used also for the Underground.
But - to catch the U2 line you should take the X9 express bus to Zoo station (terminus) and change there, not the TXL express bus. Much faster.
At Zoo, you find the elevator to the eastbound platform of U2 towards Pankow directly in front of the Waldorf Astoria at the hotel's main entrance (across the street from bus stop). You cannot miss spotting the hotel.
Longer answer:
Check BVG Berlin transport's website www.bvg.de which type of ticket you want for your whole stay (weekly pass, day passes, etc.). You can most at the BVG desk in Terminal A or at the vending machines at the bus stops. Single tickets and day passes are also sold by the bus driver. So if you need just those, you don't have to queue at the desk or deal with the vending machines.
The tickets valid in Berlin (farezone AB) can be used for any means of public transportation, like buses, trams, underground (U-Bahn), suburban trains (S-Bahn), regional trains and ferries within the city limits.
Destinations in the greater metropolitan area (like Potsdam) require a ticket valid for farezones ABC.

A €2.70 (for adults) ticket lets you travel anywhere in zones A and B, provided you validate it when getting on the bus and complete the journey within 2 hours of validation.
You might well find buying season tickets on arrival for your whole stay makes more sense.

You are travelling with family?
Then consider buying a small group day ticket (Kleingruppen-Tageskarte) for the zones AB. For €17.30 up to five persons can travel the whole day until 3:00 a.m.
For children up to 14 years, the fares are reduced. For an overview, look here:

VERY IMPORTANT
You need to know that the TXL Jet Express bus now only goes as far as Hauptbahnhof for the foreseeable future. You can change to the S-Bahn to Alexanderplatz, or you can get the X9 bus from the airport to Ernst-Reuter-Platz and change onto U-Bahn U2 from there

Good advice.
Just that you should not change from X9 bus to U2 subway at Ernst-Reuter-Platz unless you have no luggage. That station does not have elevators. Stay on X9 bus to Zoo and change there when you have bags too heavy to carry on stairs.
