Visit Saint Rita Shrine in Cascia Italy

Can someone please guide me on how to travel to Cascia from Florence? It will just be a day tour so I will return to Florence same day. I am in Rome the previous 2 days but unfortunately don't have time left in Rome to go to Cascia. Thank you for your help.

Unless you rent a car, I don't think there's any way you could take a day trip to Cascia from Florence. It would be a long trip, but fairly easy, from Rome, because there's one bus daily in each direction serving Rome's Tiburtina bus station. It leaves Rome at 7:30 AM,taking 3 hours to get to Cascia, and the return bus leaves Cascia at 3:30 PM. There's no train that would get you from Florence to Rome in time to catch that bus.

Even by car, it would take you over four hours to get to Cascia from Florence.

I'm not sure this is possible unless you hire a car or adjust your timing.

There's no direct public transport connection from Florence.

The shrine site (http://www.santaritadacascia.org/sta...e-arrivare.php ) recommends a train to Rome-Tiburtina from Florence, then a bus direct to Cascia. The trouble is: the only bus that could possibly work leaves Tiburtina at 0730, and no train from Florence arrives in Rome in time to connect with it.

rome2rio.com recommends a train to Terni from Tiburtina, then a connecting bus. But that merely connects with the 0730 departure from Tiburtina - which you can't get on starting from Florence

I suspect the answer is to make the Cascia trip from Rome, then catch an early train to Florence the following day. There are several trains an hour from around 0600, taking little over 90 minutes.

Actually, I looked into the Terni possibility, because there are regional trains from Florence to Rome that don't require that you go into Rome. However, again, none of them would get you to Terni in time to catch the bus there.

Here's the bus map for the area, but buses tend to be for schools or worker commutes, not tourists.

I think your best bet is hire a driver for the day or take a train to Foligno or Spoleto and arrange transport from there. You could rent a car in Foligno too.
