Cotswolds | Countryside experience

Hello,

My boyfriend and I will be in the Cotswolds June 11-14. After looking at many hotels & B&Bs in Chipping Campden and Burford, we decided we’re looking more for the countryside experience. A calm place surrounded by nature/green fields instead of the touristy/crowded place. We are aware a place like this would probably be a drive away from pubs/restaurants and we’re ok with that. However, we do want to explore the Cotswolds, so we would still need something not so far away from everything.

Are there any places you could recommend?

Many thanks!

Penguina

P.S: Budget would be up to USD $250 / GBP 175 per night

We spent a week in Chipping Campden in June 2012 and it was not very crowded with tourists. A really charming little town with lots of great old pubs to eat. You can get a good b & b just out of the town and then tour the other villages every day. Look at sights like booking.com for b & b's or guesthouses on the outskirts of town. They give you a map so it is easy to see where you are situated. Bourton on Water is busier and so in Morton in the Marsh.

Just looked at Booking.com and there are some lovely places in the countryside near Chipping C in places like Blockley, Ebrington and Paxford. Also a great self catering cottage on the outskirts of Chipping Campden (where we stayed) called Rose cottage 2. Hope you find something and have a great time. I love it!!

We did this several years ago and I believe we went through www.premiercottages.co.uk and we were very happy with our choice.Others may have suggestions as to rental agencies. Your only problem may be that it is late for making bookings in June.

For a place w/ really superb food - check out the Kingham Plough http://www.thekinghamplough.co.uk/bedrooms It is a pub w/ rooms just west of Stow-on-the-Wold. Emily Watkins is the chef/owner and worked for a few years at the Fat Duck.

Just a heads' up. I was about to suggest the cottages at Sudeley Castle but found every one of the 13 booked for those days. A reminder that it's late and getting later all the time.

I like this one in Long Compton:

It's very near the Whichford Pottery, one of my favorite places to visit in the Cotswolds.
