Silversea the BEST

I am forever spoiled now. 1 week on the Silver Spirit down the Adriatic was everything I was hoping for. Great service, wonderful stateroom with walk in closet, full bathroom with separate tub and shower, good sized sitting area and balcony, 2 TV's, refrigerator filled with whatever we wanted. Food was wonderful and the fact that everything was included in the price was great. It was nice to not have to worry about signing for every cocktail, beer or appetizer we got from the bar or around the pool. Good to have a large gym to work off the dinners. Very good restaurants except for the French Restaurant which was not worth the extra money we had to pay to eat there. We are not evening show type people but there some very good shows with talented entertainers. HIGHLY recommend Silversea. Doubt I will ever cruise with another line now. We thoroughly enjoy smaller ships. Have cruised with Oceania and Regent to compare sizes but the luxury of Silversea out does the other 2 which I thought were wonderful. Added bonus was free laundry on every floor. Nice!

one disappointment was the shore excursion in Slovenia which was not exactly what we were hoping for. Took a long time to reach our destinations to have less than 30 minutes on our own to explore. Very lovely but wished for more time to see things on our own.

San Marino excursion was delightful. A separate country within Italy. Missed it on our last trip there so we took advantage of it on the cruise. Beautiful area; wish we had our passports so we could have them stamped San Marino! castles, hills, great lunch!

Dubrovnik was on our own. Walked the city wall, took the funicular to the top of the mountain for great views, walked the city streets, and delightful lunch. Crossed that off my bucket list. Beautiful city. Split and Trogir beautiful and interesting stops as well.

Sounds wonderful. I've always heard they were a great cruise line.

What a delightful way to travel!
One thing that interests me - is it possible on cruise lines such as Silversea to request meals that conform to special dietary needs?

On our Norwegian cruises trip I was able to organise meals that contained no artificial preservatives. I counted myself very fortunate that time around, but am not sure if this is the norm, or if I just happened upon a very obliging head chef.

I'd love to take a small ship cruise, but am not sure how it would work out food-wise for me? Di

di2315...I know they will work with you if you are gluten free, dairy free, etc. I believe they had a form to fill out about dietary restrictions But could not swear by it.

Not up to their old standards! See my response on the Silver Wind. In summary, they saved money in Venice this summer(July 2015) by docking in the industrial/garbage dumpsite for two nights. We were the ONLY PASSENGER ship docked there...all others were in downtown Venice or at the railway terminal. The stench was horrible and the 45 minute bus ride to get to the terminal meant that our visit in Venice was extraordinarily disappointing when it was expected to be a highlight of the trip. The ownership does not seem to care and relies on an old reputation. AVOID!!!

For THOSE PRICES and they are still operating an "extra-tariff" restaurant and it wasn't worth it? Please...every cruise line obviously has SOME downsides afterall.

Dukey1 agree totally about the extra tariff for a couple of their restaurants. We ate in one (French restaurant) and paid dearly - absolutely was NOT worth it. Would never do it again. The regular dining room and outside dining was great as was the pool dining area.

shoish....we docked in Venice in an area that had other ships there. It was a short walk to the bus for the train and airport. when were you there? We were there 9/2014.
