Driving Provence to Barcelona, Best stop on Costa Brava

Hi there

We'll be taking a day to drive from Camargue France to Costa Brave. Do you have any suggestions for towns to stop in on the way please?

And which beach town so you recommend for a lazy few days with three kids (4 years, 1 years) - Llafranc / Tamariu / Calella de Calafrugell / Platja de Castell? We're having trouble deciding which town would be best here.

Family accommodation suggestions would be brilliant too.

Thank you

Narbonne is about half way there - that's where I would stop.

Can't help with the Costa Brava choices.

Depends when you are going, I suspect. Have stayed in Llafranc at Easter and it was pleasant and quiet then with a very nice walk to Callela, which I felt was more of a resort type town.

I have heard Tamariu is also pleasant but haven't been. It is certainly a lovely area out of season with Girona worth a visit also.

I'd just look for a place that is family-friendly and may have some things for kids to do as you can't go in the water in April, it's too cold. The weather won't even be that warm, but the water definitely won't be warm enough for going in (water temp is about 60F or 15C).

they have an amusement park (Magic Park) near platja d'Aro, which might be okay for your 4 yr old. It's still too early for the water park there, also, it's not open in April. I don't know those resort towns, all kind of expensive, nor what to do in April in a beach resort town, so can't say suggest which would be best for you.

Thanks everyone. Our kids will be very happy digging in the sand with a shovel and then splashing in a heated pool. They seem immune to the cold.

Thank you, it looks like a nice part of the world.

Cadaqués, right across the Fr/Sp border, is a nice town. And before crossing the border, do visit Collioure (abt. 20 km from the border)!
Some other nice towns on the Costa Brava are Rosas and La Escala.
