Hi everyone

I will spend 3 days in Gold Coast with my family ( husband and two kids ), could you please advise on where to stay which will be convenient to visit theme parks and also close to beach ( if possible ) ?
I also would like to choose an area which is family friendly

I like Broadbeach & Mainbeach, but I'm not travelling with children.

Friends with 11 & 8 year olds had an apartment at Xanadu last week and really liked it. Across the road from the beach, close to the Southport surf club ( good food, reasonable prices) walking distance to Marina Mirage & Tedder street supermarket, bistros & restaurants.

Have a look at the cabins at Tallebudegera caravan park at Palm Beach. Right on an inlet with a shallow beach, five minutes walk along the inlet to the surf beach and surf club, plus two pools within the park. Easy access to the highway to visit theme parks and five minutes drive to major shops and restaurants.

What about if we want a convenient location to visit Theme parks?
Is there an area more convenient to visit theme parks but not far from the beach or am I too demanding ?

A convenient location for theme parks is Helensvale but this is half hour car trip to anything on the Gold Coast.
If you want to stay on the surf beach you will need to stay at Main Beach or anywhere south of this.
We visit from New Zealand and usually stay in the Labrador area at a time share (Sandy Point Beach Resort) but there is other accommodation in the area. The beach is on the inlet of Broadwater so no surf.
Broadbeach is a nice area as well and there will be hotels right on the beach. We stayed at Breakers North once which was great - huge 3 bed apartment and right on the beach.
IMO by staying close to the theme parks you would miss out on some of the Gold Coast experience but check these 2 out : www.goldcoastholidaypark.com.au and treasureisland.com.au. I have not stayed there but did check them out as they had reasonable accommodation choices.
Sea World Resort Hotel is right by Sea World and they often have good deals and unlimited entry into Sea World. However it is on the inlet beach not the surf beach.

Spend the day on Stradbroke Island and discover a little bit of paradise just 35 minutes from the Gold Coast by high-speed luxury catamaran. When you get to Stradbroke Island, it’s up to you how you spend your time: relax on the tranquil private beach or get out on the water in a kayak or canoe. Feed kookaburras and wallabies, and indulge in a buffet lunch before cruising back to the Gold Coast in the late afternoon.

With the exception of SeaWorld the other theme parks are inland and not near any beaches. You can actually stay at SeaWorld Resort though and shuttle buses are available to take you to the other parks.

SeaWorld, Movie World and Wet & Wild are all part of Village Roadshow Theme Parks and offer a discounted deal to visit all three.

Dreamworld is in the same vicinity as Movie World.

If you didn't want to stay at SeaWorld then I would suggest Main Beach, Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach. There are a kazillion accommodation options to suit all budgets. The locations I've mentioned also offer many places for dining on all budgets as well.

I believe there are many different shuttle services to the theme parks.
