Traveling in between Paris and Nantes via TVG
What is the fastest way to get from Paris to Nantes? Is it TVG?
Is it convenient and safe for single woman to travel between Paris and Nantes by TVG? Are the train stations for both area safe? How late would you arrive and still feel safe in the area? I'm planning to meet up with a friend in Nante, but was hoping to stop by Paris before/after.
Also, is there a place where you can store your luggage? is it above your seat or designed area? Is there a restriction on carry-on or luggage size?

Yes, it is the fastest way and it is perfectly safe. There is no baggage restriction. There are storage areas at the ends and in the middle of the cars, as well as overhead for smaller items.
Keep a close eye on your luggage until the train pulls out of the station, because sometimes suitcases are stolen just before the train leaves.

Very safe, don't worry about that. I try to get a seat where I can keep an eye on my baggage in the end spot or near my seat. On some trains, the overhead space is extremely small, you can't put a regular size suitcase up there (not even a 22" one), just smaller day packs.
I don't like arriving anywhere when traveling late at night, to be honest. It isn't for safety reasons, I just don't like it, I get tired and you often get the worst room in a hotel if you arrive late, the last choice. But when I Paris, I take the metro sometimes 10-11 pm so I'd feel safe arriving that late at a train station. Never been to Nantes. IS your friend meeting you at the train station or not? Train stations do tend to attract some bad characters, in general, especially around them, so I wouldn't feel comfortable arriving late at night at one and having to wander around alone in the dark right outside them, with baggage. When I arrive at one in Paris, you get onto the metro right in the station. IN reality, if you just go out the door to an official txi stand, it should be okay but you always have to be careful about people approaching you in both rail stations and airports who are not official taxi drivers and may even try to take your bags from you (in an attempt to get you to ride with them).
I don't mean this to be worse than it is, but if you aren't being met, I would not want to arrive late at night in any city for various reasons.

Nantes should be very safe at any time at the train station or any place in town - take a taxi from the station to your hotel and there can be no problems even if there were!
You can carry on the kitchen sink if you can - no restrictions but pack light on trains - for lots of answers to train questions like yours check - www.ricksteves.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

If you want to see what luggage storage look like, just google "TGV luggage rack images." For more pictures of TGV interior, looke at http://www.seat61.com/tgv.htm. The limit of luggage is what you can carry and what space you are left with. You share the storage with others. If you hop on in the middle of run or got on late at the starting station and if the people who got on around you are heavy packers - like a tour group, with everyone carrying a 26" or larger plus a 22 or 24", then you will be pressed to find a luggage space on the floor around you.
Regarding safety, from your wording, do I presume you are from a place where only a certain class of people use public transits and where most people don't walk around "late" at night? After a few days in France, you will realize families with children and single women walk around much later at night and that public transits are used by wider cross section of the population.

If those TGVs are duplex ones - two levels be sure to book a seat if possible on the upper level for much better views - the sunken level often has views mainly of wind blocks and guard rail. And if you look carefully enough you can glimpse Chartres Cathedral in the far distance at one point I think.
