Has anyone rented a myfi device from All Day Internet?
My husband wants to bring an IPhone 4s and a ipad mini with us on our trip to Northern Spain this September. He read about this myfi device that keeps us in a perpetual "hot Spot" so that we don't always have to find a wifi system, cafe or hotel. Has anyone rented this or had any experience with this?

The myfi is a wireless router, nothing more. It, in itself, must be connected to a wireless service, paid or free WiFi. It does not provide internet access on it's own. It needs to be connected to a service provider (MoviStar, Vodafone, Orange, etc.).
You have the same ability with your iPhone 4S if you use AT&T (tethering). I'm not sure if Verizon offers the same service.

I have not used this, but I just looked at the web site. It is a solution for those who cannot do or don't have access to tethering.
Like other cellphone questions, the relevant choice depends on the usage model which you have not posted.
For example, for 15 days, the service offers 1GB for 90EU, but no voice or SMS. Of course, if you have, for example, a funded Skype account, you can do outgoing Skype voice and outgoing SMS on internet to any other phone. You have to carry and charge yet another gadget.
Last year, I got a promotion with SIM with 500MB good for one month for 20EU which of course came with voice and SMS.
Which is "better?" Really cannot answer unless one has a particular usage model in mind. In my case, I had to have bidirectional voice and SMS to local numbers so the SIM path was relevant.
