Traveling directly from Heathrow, this summer, to Norwich.
How do you reach train station from Heathrow?

You'll probably want Liverpool Street; you can get there on the Tube or in a more expensive taxi.

You may check on buses from Heathrow to somewhere near or Norwich but otherwise you have to go into and then cross London by Tube or Taxi or Car Service from Heathrow - a long slog - leave plenty of time - just buy your tickets once at Liverpool Street Station from where trains to Norwich depart every half hour or so - check www.nationalrail.co.uk for schedules and fares - discounted fares may be available but check the conditions on them - when doing plane to train you never really know when you will land, clear customs, etc - by Tube it would take at least an hour I would think.

My guess is neither have actually done this.

There are National Express coaches directly from LHR to Norwich w/o any transfers -- but they only run every 2 hours so it depends on what time you land whether it would be convenient. In between those express buses, you'd have to change at Victoria Coach station - but even then the journey only take about 20 mins longer.

Otherwise you are talking about 2 tube rides to get to Liverpool Street station - it would be a bit faster but quite a slog.

I've done it also and I vividly remember the time I was dumb enough to take a taxi from the Covent Garden Hotel rather than using the Tube. Watching people walking on the adjacent sidewalks as that cab inched toward Liverpool Street was enough to finally cause me to pay the hack and get out and walk the rest of the way.

May I respectfully remind you, Janis, that the OP asked about how to get to the train station and not how to get a coach to Norwich?

and yes like Dukey I have taken a train from London Liverpool to Norwich - have you? I gave no specifics about buses because a- I don't know them and 2- yes the question was about trains and I done that route at least twice. How about you?

Maybe the OP asked about the station because s/he was unaware of the alternative? Not only would the coach be direct, instead of requiring two changes, it would be significantly cheaper.

National Express is cheaper than the train but definitely takes longer. The train is faster but more expensive.

I would recommend checking both national express and the trainline websites to find which mode of transportation, times and prices would suit the OP best.

For the train, I used Liverpool Street as the London Station.

Thanks to all. I see that there is a Heathrow Express coach into London? But I don't see that it goes to Liverpool street. I definitely do not want to make any connections, if possible......not experienced and will be traveling alone.

No, you want the coach that goes directly to Norwich. Forget going into London.

Nancy - the bus will be so easy - once you find it in Heathrow - not always easy for a first timer IME but just follow signs for Coach Terminal or whatever they call it.

A pretty seemless way if you want to go by train and have no budget is to take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station in 20 minutes - grab a cab - lots always waiting for the HEX arrivals IME - and drive to Liverpool Station in probably 20 minutes - buy a train ticket and be on your way.

Buses are cheap though but getting to the Heathrow bus station can again be time-consuming and slow with a lot of luggage.

The Heathrow Express is a stupidly expensive train that only goes to Paddington station which is of no help at all getting to <u>Norwich</u>.

The central bus station is VERY clearly signposted.

Nancy: if you want easy and don't want multiple transfers and luggage schlepping - then <B>take the National Express coach using the link I provided</B>. Taking TWO tube rides just to get to Liverpool Street station will be a REAL slog.

Outright lie. Or at best, a fatheaded inaccuracy from someone easily gulled by misleading advertising.

Thetrainline.com is the most expensive way possible of buying train tickets, as it charges commission. Go to the official UK railway website (www.nationalrail.co.uk) and follow the links for the train operating company on the service you choose.

Only an or agent employee of the company could possibly have a sensible reason for making the absurd assertion in this post.

It's a train, it goes to Paddington which is the other side of central London from Liverpool Street, it's EXTREMELY expensive.

If OP arrives during the rush hour there will be a long queue for taxis
It's Liverpool Street, Liverpool is a couple hundred miles in the wrong direction.

I thank you for adding valuable information about which link to use. I do not thank you for the way you made me look foolish. I used thetrainline during my stay in England because it I was told it was the easiest. Obviously, the information was wrong.

Why are we still talking about the train from Liverpool Street? No connections = National Express coach, as janisj posted way upthread. (And I can't think why anyone would say that the Central Bus Station at Heathrow is any harder to find than the train station.)
