Euro Quiz # 73 - (Thursday) Pose Your Questions!

Trying a new bent today in making a quiz that is participatory - most folks who are not blockaded in their houses by mountains of snow (quickly melting however) don't have time to create a whole quiz - which does take time to verify facts, etc. so I thought today I'd try to start by asking one question and then have anyone who would ask another question or two - until we get the usual ten questions.

we'll see how it works:

I'll start:

1- What is the capital of Liechtenstein? Where is Lichtenstein located - between which two countries?

Who's next? Pleeeeeze!

2- ???????????

too easy - tom-mn got it already.

Don't know the currency off the top of my head but I'll make a stab at the swiss franc.

I'll try and think of one to pass on.

annhig: you are correct. I was a little surprised to find that out because I knew that Liechtenstein supported Hitler so I thought would be more closely allied with Austria. As a result the prince lost his royal estate in Bohemia after the war.

tom_mn - i was guessing but sort of drawing on going there an extremely long time ago, when it seemed closer to Switzerland than Austria. Also it's not in the EU so it was unlikely to have joined the eurozone.

Here's no 2:

what is the link between a well known UK department store and 2 islands with the same name that are both cut off at high tide, and where will I find them?

Cowboy is right, I thought from the map is was Macedonia, but a web search says Kosovo is the sixth.

I'd ask for 5 countries (not former or current US territories) using the US$ but it is not really on topic. The Asian one is interesting, though.

5. Name the palace just west of Paris that burned in the Franco-Prussian war. It was Napoleon's preferred residence. It is now the site of a large park and garden. Part of the original palace was moved to Bulgaria and incorporated into a royal building there.

I think that would be rubbing the Indonesians' nose in it.

6. When you leave this European airport you find two official taxi ranks with taxis from two different countries waiting next to eachother. Where is this airport and from which two countries are the taxis?
Hint: Switzerland has nothing to do with it.
