Costa Brava for woman traveling alone in June

I'll be in Barcelona for a week in June. Afterwards, I'd like to spend 2 or 3 days in a Costa Brava city. Priorities will be relaxing near the water, walking, eating, maybe shopping. Of course I want someplace that is safe for a single female traveller. A hotel room with breakfast and balconies would be great. Ideas for cities and hotels?

Do you have a budget in mind? It would be helpful.

I don't need luxury accommodations, but I'm willing to spend on a place that is comfortable, safe, and in a good location. This is my vacation, so I don't need to be frugal, either.

I would head for Malaga. It has everything you're looking for, and more.

As far as a hotel goes, try the AC Hotel Malaga Palacio. It's one of the best locations in the city and the price should be right.

Will you get a car? Llafranc is really nice, but it would probably be better to have a car there.

Some of the rooms here have balconies:

Or you could go south instead of north, to Tarragona or Sitges, which are on the sea.

Sorry, Costa Brava it is! Begur or Palafrugell would be practical without a car. Sitges would also work if you don't have a car.
