RHINE FALLS
Hey guys,
We have planned to visit switzerland in April2015 and we will be spending 01 day in zurich, during which we are planning of visiting the rhine falls. Is there anything else we could see on the way to rhine or nearby zurich. We are planning to go to grindelwald next day.. and we will be visiting bern and interlaken too.

We spent a few days in Winterhur (on the train line from Zurich) early October 2013 and spent an enjoyable day visiting the Rheinfalls.
Took the 8:38am train to Schaffhausen, where we followed a self guided walk provided by the tourist information office. From here we walked by the rivervank to the falls, arriving around noon. After an hour or so we took the train at the station by the falls (Neuhausen am Rheinfall) to Stein am Rhein, a small but picturesque town. After a couple of hours we returned to Winterthur.
While a visit to Stein am Rhein might not be possible I would definitely recommend Schaffhausen.

Go by boat from Schaffhausen to Stein am Rhein (stunning medieval city) - Reichenau (old monastery) - Konstanz - Mainau (botanaical gardens) - Unteruhldingen (celtic lake dwellings). Boat Saturday/Sunday until mid April, daily afterwards.
Check also:
Rhine Falls adventure park, medieval city of Schaffhausen and Munot castle, medieval castle of Meersburg (close to Konstanz).
If you land at Zurich airport and wan to visit Rhine Falls etc., there is no need to make the detour to Zurich cty center. Sleep at Winterthur, closer to Rhine Falls and Lake Constance. Direct trains from Winterthur to Berne every 30 min.
