1. another possibility, Jeanne d'Arc and Rouen, difficult because the French like to name everything (lamp posts, mailboxes, etc.) after people.

Okay all of quokka's answers are correct.
The best anyone can do is tie her.

( quokka I too had beer and sausages at the green little shack like 900 year old building for #6.)

tom_mn:

I think you mean that # 7 ( not # 8 ) is the Stroget, you are correct.

I will give you Joan of Arc ( in Ruoen) .I was there last year.

PalenQ : Yes you are also correct ( for #9) but quokka beat you to it. !!

Pvoyageuse: You got # 3 correct.

We just need # 8 and # 10.

( I think the prerequisites are the same for the American War Museum also at Normandy ).

C'mon you guys # 8 is not that hard.

Hint for # 10:
To work at the American or Canadian Normandy Museum you have to be an American and Canadian Citizen respectively

Now what is the other pre-requisite ? It may be a bit tough but the pre-requisite makes sense.

8- controversy about turning the fountain on and displacing a family of storks? (Storks have become a nuisance in the great lakes - plopping on practically every big post in docks, nesting on buoys and lights, etc.)

10 - other requisite is you have to be a veteran?

both are guesses I guess.

Colding-Jorgensen experiment
In early 2009, as part of a classroom experiment on viral communication, slacktivism, and social media, Anders Colding-Jørgensen, an online media researcher from the University of Copenhagen, created a Facebook protest group against the demolition of the Stork Fountain. In a week it managed to attract 10,000 supporters and after two weeks it had 27,000 members. However the cause was purely fictitious; there was no threat of demolition and the fountain is in fact a listed monument.[

Well this cannot be the answer percy wanted as he said 2008 but it is an interesting thing that happened.

another interesting thing when I Googled Stork Fountain Controversy Percy's Fodor's Friday Quiz post was the third item highlighted!

another pre-req for # 10 - worker has to be alive?

Good try PalenQ, at least I learned something new about the Stork Fountain.
I never heard that they were going to demolish the fountain.

Yeah....yes for # 10, they have to be alive, but that is not the answer.

Okay time to give the answers to #8

The Stork Fountain has three storks ready to take off.

However on close inspection, they are not storks but Blue Herons.

This controversy went back and forth until in 2008 The Danish Ornithological Society stepped in and declared the birds to be storks. ( They still look like Heron to me )

For # 10
To work at the War Museums in Normandy for Canada ( and USA) you have to be between 18 to 26 years old.

This is because over 85 % of those that died were in this age range and they want the tourist public to appreciate just how young the soldiers were that gave up their lives.

This was explained to me at Juno Beach last year but only after by a fluke I happened to say to a nice girl,"Your pretty young to be working here."

Then she explained why they are all so young.

Interesting isn't it. !!
