Neuschwanstein - Tickets
Hello!
I will be visiting the city of Munich on next May. I will be visiting de Castle around mid-May, probably on a Tuesday.
Is it necessary to book the tickets in advance or is it possible to buy them at the moment of the visit?
Thanks

You can buy them once you get there but will have to probably wait in a long queue to get on the next available tour - better to book a specific time slot on the official site - how are you getting to Fuessen - by train it's two hours and another hour or so getting out to the castle itself - having to oncd at its foot clambor up a steep hill - leave plenty of time - like 4 hours or more before leaving Munich on train and entry time.

When we went there we were lucky and caught on an English tour that was starting in only about 15 minutes (but this was a rainy day in May). Not sure how they are working tour languages now but if you need English you might want to look up times and book.
(In some places - Seville, Denmark - we have just hooked onto the next tour in the native language but that depends on your language skills and how willing you are to not get absolutely everything the guide is saying.)

Too bad they do not offer, I believe, self-guided tours of Neuschwanstein too in addition to guides - with headphones in various languages of course. Could run a whole lot more people thru.
Ironically 'Mad' Ludwig was deposed for bankrupting the Bavarian Treasury with his mad castle building - now that mad castle must be turning a pretty penny into the Bavarian Treasury.
