Rolling bags in Venice

I haven't read anything lately about the ban on rolling bags in Venice. I am going there in the fall and I can't carry luggage with my left arm following surgery. I depend on rolling bags. Any updates? Thanks. Diane

THe story of a ban on rolling luggage was never true and was refuted within 24 hours, but got less coverage than the original false story that leapt around the media with lightning speed. No problem taking your rolling luggage to Venice, no matter what kind of wheels it has.

I presume you know that depending on where your hotel is located, you might have to pull your rolling bags up and down steps over bridges. Of course, all bets are off if you arrive on a Acqua Alta day like this http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/cm...ry/3924894.jpg

. . . And if you stay at a hotel w/ a dock and take a water taxi you can get to your hotel w/o dragging your luggage anywhere.

Diane, you may need to lift your bag at some point, off carousels, trains etc. Are you able to do that?

Thanks for the responses. I've been to Venice several times, so I know the drill. I'll have one good arm. Just didn't want to carry the bag for any length of time -- pulling it up/down steps will be easier than carrying it. I'll use boats as much as possible. Will be staying in Venice for three nights before boarding the cruise ship.
