Font de Gaume Reservations Available Again

Hi, I have received so much unbelievable information from this site over the years that I wanted to contribute this for anyone unaware of the changes.

Font de Gaume is allowing reservations this year for only the last two tours of the day in advance (one in French and the other in English). The only way to secure tickets in advance for this tour is to request places by email ([email protected]) or by telephone on +33 (0)5 53 06 86 00. Otherwise tickets are only available by queuing on the day of your intended visit.

I sent an email last evening and received an email back this morning confirming my reservations for the English tour at 4 pm on 6 May. I called the phone number (must call between 2:30 and 4 France time) and gave the delightful woman my cc number.
We are very happy we have been able to do this as we were afraid we would never be able to visit this incredible monument. Hope this is of help to someone.

Nice of you to let us know. I hope you enjoy the Font de Gaume as much as I did -- it is truly magnificent!

We too will be in Eyzie in September and were hoping to get to either Lascaux II or Font de Gaume; we will see what dates we can get at Font de Gaume per your instructions above. Thank you so much for taking care of us Fodorites!

Thank you.

FdeG is fantastic, as is Les Combarelles, smaller and a bit more claustrophobic but at least as good artistically.

Thank you Charuddy. In the last 20 minutes I have sent a email requesting English tour on May 18. I received an immediate reply and now have confirmed reservations.

Glad I checked in this morning.

FWIW, I found Font de Gaume sufficiently different from both Lascaux II and Les Combarelles (not to mention the Abri de Cap Blanc and the magnificent Pech Merle) to justify visits to all. YMMV.

Well, we do have resv now to FdeG, we'll play the rest of the day loose, we prefer not to commit to a strict schedule; thanks so much for this tip.
