International low cost carrier

The January 12 issue of the Christian Science Monitor had an article about "amazing travel deals to Europe" It directs to a web-site for Norwegian Airlines, that lists fares from JFK to many European airports, with one-way tickets, priced in US dollars, ranged from $144 to less than $400 (front cabin seats are as low as $1000). They are apparently an international low cost carrier. Many of their flights are on new Boeing 787(?)s. I don't work for them (or anybody else), but found the fares almost unbelievable.

There are any number of international low-fare airlines around the globe, but this one is low fare from North America to Europe. This may be the first time we've been offered such deals as regular fares since the start-up of People's Express in 1985. Including flights from the west coast.

You need to factor in all the extra costs that these low cost carriers charge; still low cost but not the first price you see. Wow Airlines too. Icelandic too.

I've seen some good deals flying to Berlin. Are the other airlines trying to bankrupt Air Berlin?

I've seen some good deals with Aeroflot, if you don't mind connecting in Moscow.

The seat pitch with Norwegian's 787 is about the same as United's; nine across in economy.
