Taormina Sicily

We are 4 adults ( 2 couples) travelling to Taormina from the 17th Aug to 22nd Aug and then on to Palermo for two night ( 22 & 23rd) we would possibly like a two bedroom hotel or small apartment or two hotel rooms. We prefer close to the city and not on the beach, as we can walk to the beach using the cable car in Taormina. Any suggestions, 3-4 star in both places if possible.
Many thanks as always,
Pachet

We used Villa Carlotta. It was a splurge for us but very nice.

Another vote for the Hotel Schuler. Loved breakfast on the terrace overlooking the coast. And the quick backdoor access to Taormina's main pedestrian street.

We loved Hotel Taodomus. Great location (right on the south end of Corso Umberto), great views, superb rooms, great and helpful staff.

Five nights in Taormina? I found two one too many. Have you considered Ortigia (Siracusa) instead/as well?

This past May we spent a week at Villa Sara in Taormina and were very please with the accommodation. It is up the hill from the main part of Taormina, but after you've been in Taormina you will notice everything is on a hill. The morning views of the bay and surrounding area were gorgeous, but the same views at night were STUNNING. Below we could see the town and the bay while to the right we could see Mt. Etna. The elderly lady who operated Villa Sara was terrific. I cannot remember her name...senior moment.

Buon viaggio,

One more vote for the Villa Schuler in Taormina. The location and views are terrific. We loved Taormina but I would take a couple of days from there and stay longer in Palermo. There is so much to see and do there. We stayed at the Principe di Villafranca in Palermo which I highly recommend.
