I'm having Visa questions too - I know that normally you dont need a visa for stays under 30 days, but If I don't have a return flight out of thailand within 30 days as proof (planning overland travel) will I still be ok without a Visa?

I will be entering Thailand again in a couple of months and leaving overland within the 30 days. After a lot of reserch I will not bother with a visa even though I will be returning after a side trip to Cambodia. I have done this several times before and have never been asked for an onward ticket in the 20 odd years I have been visiting the country. That said the visa rules were tighten up this year to try and stop the visa runs for expats living there "unofficially".

It is unlikely that you will be asked for evidence of onward travel unless they suspect you intend to stay ( maybe lots of Thai stamps in your passport?).

That said, if in doubt, get a visa.

The airlines, not Thai immigration, are the ones to ask about visas and onward flights as they are responsible for flying you back if you are rejected.

I was asked about my oneway ticket to Thailand in June this year by Eva air - they calmed down on seeing my "B" visa.
you might check this out on Thaivisa - they are more up to date on this thing.

the 30 day visa-less entry ca now be extended by another 30 days without leaving the country (1900 baht)

As mentioned, the airlines are the primary point for visa checks. I had a 45 day "stay" on a Delta roundtrip ticket earlier in the year and a concern was raised because of no visa.

When I mentioned I had two excursions planned out of Thailand, the agent simply said ok (basically mumbled something about 'ok, it's on you then') and gave me the 'docs ok' stamp. I offered to show the flight confirmations for those excursions but they said they didn't even need to see them.
