Trip to Central and Eastern Europe Aug 2015 (3-9 months)

Hi, I'm Greg. I'm a writer, artist and photographer...I'm originally from Philadelphia, lived in L.A. for almost 4 years and been in Phoenix for almost the same amount of time. i'm planning on traveling to Central and Eastern Europe from Arizona in August 2015 with primary stops in Prague and Budapest. 3-9 moths stay but, possibly longer. If anybody wants a travel buddy, let me know...I left a link to my Facebook page so u can get to know a little about me..

How do you propose to do that since you'll be limited to 90 days . . . (well, the 3 month option is possible)

The four countries you tagged are all in the Schengen area. If you are a US passport holder you can stay in Schengen for a total of 90 days in 180, and temporarily leaving the area doesn't restart the clock.

Read this US Department of State Schengen Fact Sheet, paying particular attention to the last two paragraphs & the other FAQs:

Unless you have access to some special visa staying in Schengen more than 90 days is illegal - and you would be subject to immediate deportation, significant fines and bans from the Schengen zone for years.

That is assuming you are a US citizen. If you have an eu passport the rules are obviusly different.

You need to look at this ASAP to figure out how to do this.

I never do FB.

Do you have a travel query, or are you just looking for a travel companion? This is a good place for the former, not the latter.

And of course, the posts about Schengen are correct.

The OP needs to hang out on the Lonely Planet Thorntree if planning to travel illegally for months (seems to be more that age/type of low budget traveler).

Be glad you don't do FB thursdaysd. I'm not sure the OP will fit in in Europe, but perhaps travel will broaden the mind a bit. Might be he just wants people to click on his FB page.

LP Thorn Tree is a shadow of its former self. Several of the regular posters on the TT Greece forum are the same ones that post on Trip Advisor and here on Fodor's. The ones I have personal knowledge of are all in their 60s & 70s. Thorn Tree has grown old along with its contributors.
