Athens at New Years
Our family will be coming back from our Christmas vacation in Crete to Athens at New Years. Has anyone ever spent any time in Athens during New Years Eve and Day? Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!

For New Years Eve book a table and enjoy your favorite bouzoukia singer of course : )
An other option is Syndagma square celebrations, I have been there a few years ago and I liked it, but if you are used to the grand public celebrations of other capitals you may be somewhat disapointed. You may already know that for us Greeks, Easter is THE celebration more than the Christmas/New Years time.
If you've been in Athens before, as far as museums and the like will be closed on 1rst January, depending to weather I suggest you to have a look outside the very city center. A walk and a lunch on one of Piraeus marinas for example might be an interesting change of scenery and ambiance than your usual Plaka/Monastiraki areas. Or a lunch on Piu Verde on Alsos Papagou.
