Paris and London in February! Best hotels?

Hey there!
I had my first trip to Paris in December of 2012. I asked for some help on this forum, and ended up with a thread that had over 550 comments on it. I was given a lot of advice and my trip was the most memorable of my life.

I'm back!
I'm going to Paris again in February, and in London.
I will be travelling with a 3 of my friends, and I'm trying to find really cheap hotel. We'll be staying 5 days in London, and 5 days in Paris. Does anyone know of any really cheap hotels in both cities? I looked at Airbnb, but am hoping for something cheaper still.

And if anyone has any advice on things to do in Feb in either cities, let me know!

Thanks

What is your idea of "cheap"?

As inexpensive as possible. Something clean and of good quality, but inexpensive. Student cheap. We're on a student/recent graduate budget.

The cheapest possible would probably be a youth hostel and if there are 4 of you then you might be able to get a private room with 4 beds/bunks. Doing some random google searches on various booking sites might yield some discounts for you. I just found a 4 bed dorm room in a hostel for 25€ per person per night in February.

I would also search on apt. sites like AirBnB. It might be cheaper for 4 of you to rent an apt. than even a hostel stay.

Speak in actual numbers, not "cheap and comfortable". If you're talking $100/night for the four of you, that won't be comfortable but it will be cheap.

We stayed a block away from this place in February 2012 and I was impressed with its looks and location.

I also think an apartment for 4 could save money. But since AirBnB has wide ranging prices I'm surprised that there was nothing there for you.

How low do you want to go?

I feel comfortable around 100$CAD a night. Between the four os us, that shouldn't be too bad. I know we have a preference for the Marais in Paris, but I know nothing about London.

We will be in Paris for 5 days, and London for 5 as well.

Thanks for the recommendation tuscanlifeedit, we will take a look at this hotel

>>100$CAD a night<<

Is that for EACH of you (i.e. CAD$ 400 per night) . . . or $100 for all 4 of you???

If you mean $400 a night - heck, you can stay anywhere.

But if you mean $100 for all of you -- that won't be possible even in a hostel. $25CAD is only £13/€16

Agree that Canadian $25 per night per person will not even cover a hostel. Nor do I htink it would cover a bed in student housing if there is room. That is couchsurfing money.

And suggest that you repost this thread - with the recos for the "cheapest" lodging. IMHO the "best" lodging would be the nicest hotel in town - not the cheapest.

100 CAD is 70 euro. There are no hotels in Paris where you can get a double room for 35 euro, for example. The cheapest 1* hotels are about double that (70 euro a room). If there were one, I would not stay there as I'd suspect it would be involved in illegal activity (and then would have to be in an outer area, I bet, even at that price). Parisian hostels cost about 20-30 euro PER PERSON even in group dorm rooms.
