Hey Friends,
I'm full of questions it seems.So, I'm making another trip To BKK in Nov.My 6th yr in a row now.Love that city as much as u all do.
My question is I want to be in and out for 3 months.Will this be allowed? Is this a problem now?I Booked the Adelphi for Dec N Jan want to book feb too!
I've done the Visa runs just need to know Its still allowed.

The visa rules have changed. You can get a 60 day visa in advance and can get a 30 day extension easily. Going in and out over a 90 day period may be more difficult. Locate the official new visa rules - there was a thread here recently, but I can't find it quickly.

From information I have gleaned from elsewhere, I think the new rules are targeting those that have blatantly misused the system over many year. Unfortunately others, who merely want to use Thailand as a base fro exploring SE Asia may be caught up in the process.

Getting a multiple entry visa in advance would be the safest way to avoid being turned back at the border but despite continual searching I have been unable to find anything definitive from an official source. If you do find anything, please post the info here.

If you rare from a G7 country you don't need a visa for 30 days, you can now get an extension of stay for another 30 days at a Thai immigration office for 1900 baht.
If you have a 60 day tourist ca can do the same.
As for visa runs the problems as yet don't seem to have surfaced.....if you appear to be a "tourist" (whatever that is) you should be OK doing a few visa runs. It might look better if you don't just do a straight "in/out" and stay somewhere for a few days.

I think you are probably right KW. My issue is that we plan to enter the country for around 15 days, leave for Cambodia for 5 days and then return for another 15 days before heading south to Malaysia overland or by boat (I.e. No onward air ticket). I doubt we would encounter any problems unless we happen across a border official having a bad day! I think I will just keep an eye out for reports to see what happens over the coming months.

It seems that immigration aren't doing much at all about multiple entries without a visa. .... Especially if they’re not back-to-back

I think the problem was they assumed that "hundreds" of people were living in Thailand on visa-less re-entries......of course rather than research the problem, they made a load of pronouncements about stopping visa runs...... it now seems that these people either didn't actually exist or have changed their visas.. It seems far more likely that anyone "living" in Thailand is more likely to be on a tourist visa or "O" visa and these aren't part of the "clampdown" (apparently).

I reckon as a tourist visa will expire when you leave the country, regardless of how long you've been in, the visa-less option makes more sense.

You probably have already looked on Thavisa for some help, but the situation now is so confusing and vague it is impossible to get a definitive answer.

One thing that seems certain is that a lot of potential visitors are now very concerned or confused about their travel plans for in and around Thailand, and this is largely down to the plethora of government dictums.

What might help is for you to offer yourself as a guinea pig so to speak, and keep us informed on your progress

I called Bangkok thank God I have Vontage it's free. So, I called the US consulate and after 3 calls
Got a person from the U.S.He told me there will be no problem.Im not a visa runner and staying out of BKK for more than a day.
So, it's on ..
