December honeymoon in Europe

Hi,
I don't know if it's stupid to think of honeymoon in Europe in mid December but I've always wanted to honeymoon there.I'm currently exploring my options and am open to all suggestions. We just want to be wrapped up in our own little world, not interested in really visiting any monuments or so. Maybe some idyllic little village sort of setting with Christmas festivities in air at night.rest of time we would not mind spending indoors.any suggestions of such destinations and hotels in mid range budget(1000 Euro per person) with travel tips would be welcome.we want to go to one place for one week..

So you want a week for 2 people for 2K euros. What does this include? Just hotel - or also meals, local transit, sights? (Not sure what to do inside all day if no sightseeing - I know it's a honeymoon - but 24 hours a day in a small room would get thin after a while.)

And are you looking for a winter resort with snow (would need to be fairly high in the mountains that early in the year to be sure of snow - unlikely in the lowlands)?

You could head to Strasbourg and Alsace for the Xmas markets - or Germany?

We rented a place in Riquewihr from this company and loved it but you most likely want a car.

Or Paris is lovely anytime of year. We always go for our anniversary the last weekend of November - you can get an idea from our photos what it's like https://www.flickr.com/photos/pug_gi...7636716043473/

That gives you a couple ideas but if you give us more info we can help more.

I would stick to a city rather than a little village. Some place where there is activity and people. You may not want to visit monuments but you might want to visit museums or churches, stop in cafes for a warming drink, concerts, etc. A little village won't have much going on.

Paris
Prague
Alsace

I know you mentioned small villages, but I'd just go to Paris and stay there for however much time you have. What's more romantic (and cozy) than a winter honeymoon in Paris?

I also would re-think the small village idea. In December the days are very short, the weather can be iffy to horrible, and driving around may be difficult.

I'd pick either a pretty part of a major city, or in a larger town accessible by trains. A week in a snow bound village may sound romantic but in reality that will wear thin fast.

You don't necessarily need to go to Paris (would be lovely though IMO) or some other big city . . . but a town w/ restaurants/cafes/shops, and trains for day trips if you want.

Look at Montreux Switzerland. It's stunningly gorgeous on Lac Leman. And they have Christmas markets. Easy to reach by train. Fly into Geneva. Here's what it looks like:

First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

For pre-Christmas flair I'd suggest one of the small towns ins Saxony, the true Christmas Country in Germany. Either up in the Ore Mountains where you are likely to have snow (Annaberg, Schwarzenberg, Freiberg for example) or Görlitz or Bautzen. All of them have atmospheric Christmas markets and local traditions, and options for day trips should you want a change.

To give you an idea:
Görlitz: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/eb77/
Annaberg (based on summer visit): http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/131d1/
Freiberg: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/f6d5/
Bautzen: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/129da/

Schwarzenberg (summer visit): http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/4cf4/
