Fetishes You Have When Returning to a Familiar Country?
I will admit to having certain fetishes (defined here as "a course of action to which one has an excessive and irrational commitment." - a dictionary definition of one meaning of the word) upon arriving in certain countries that I have been to many times before.
Such as:
Italy - first thing I do is head for a cappuccino - even if in the afternoon when Italians rarely drink it I've heard - then for a slice of pizza!
Belgium - first thing morning day or night - a fresh 'pils' at Brussels' Gare du Midi train station where I usually arrive - the some patat frites in this home of french-fries!
France - first up a 'cafe' - a tiny cup of espresso loaded with sugar and gulped down in one fell swoop - then to the first boulangerie for a croissant au beurre and a 'pain choc' as they seem to call pain chocolate - soft bread loaded with chocolate.
Switzerland - ah that Swiss chocolate!
Germany - A hot Bratwurst from train station kiosks - lathered with mustard.
Holland - another 'pils please' - this time always a Heinie - even in the morning after an all-night flight - then to the nearest FEBO's for some pommes frites - french fries served in a paper cone with a myriad of toppings - for starters I always get the Frites Royale! Then, of course, to the nearest coffeeshop
The UK - how about 'a cuppa' - a cup of tea - usually milky tea. And then for some greasy fish and chips!
WELL DO YOU ADMIT TO ANY FETISHES WHEN RETURNING TO A FAMILIAR COUNTRY? What do you have to do the first thing upon arrival? Interested to hear.

Have only a couple of fetishes after overnight flights - always the same:
30 minutes stretched flat on the bed (or a floor if bed is too soft) to depretzelize
Nice cool shower to wake up
Head out for an explore the neighborhood walk, a light lunch and a park with bench or similar to just soak up the atmosphere

Rome - straight to the Pantheon My favorite building! (Immediately followed by lemon gelato - no matter the time of day!)
Paris - first night trek up to Sacre Couer - love the church, love the view!
