Good morning everyone

I hope the hive mind here has some thoughts for me!

PVA is fully booked for my time which is a shame as I like that agency very much. So, now I search.

Here are some flats I am considering. Has anyone stayed at these before? What did you think, please? I will also be checking TripAdvisor but thought I would ask here as well.

In addition to well located, safe and clean I'm looking for sunny and bright, as well as a decent sized bathroom. I know I'm not going to find huge, but I really like well designed bathrooms - the bigger the better. Or at least not small and cramped.

How do you feel about stairs? Several flats that you've linked are on 4th floor or higher with no lift. That's a deal breaker for me. The flights of stairs are long and at the end if a long day it's the last thing I feel like tackling.

We have rented an apartment on the Ile de St. Louis from Guest Apartment Services in late Sept. for 2 weeks. So far the rental agency has been extremely responsive and helpful. I believe we dealt with an office in New Jersey and were able to pay the deposit by credit caard. Both of the Guest Apartment Services apartments you include seem fine and the location can't be beat. I didn't note what floor they were on and, like Cathies, that makes a difference to us if there is no elevator.

Thank you for pointing that out - I will look more closely at the above to weed out those that are that high. A few flights are fine though.

I do like the Guest Apartment Services ones - those are tops, so far. I also emailed Adrien Leeds Parler Paris with a list of 6-7 this morning, let's see what I hear back.

I like both Guest Apartment places.

In addition to ruling out those on upper floors without elevators, I would also rule out the one where you have to climb a ladder to get to the bed.

I am clumsy even when wine has not been consumed.

Hi flygirl,

I stayed in a Guest Apartment apartment last October, and I loved it. First of all, I loved the leafy-tree and river view and all the expanse -- I hate it when apartments are so close together that you can see into your neighbor's living room clearly from your windows. But on the river, you really get a feeling of space and privacy. Secondly, I loved the location -- go one direction and you're in the Marais, and go the other direction and you're in St. Germain. Hard to beat.

I haven't looked at all the links, but both of your 2 favorites have excellent locations. Angelica has a very small bathroom and is on the third floor American. Daisy has the smallest possible kitchen, no washer/dryer, but, overlooking the Seine, it should get more light. Whereas Angelica looks into a courtyard so it's light is limited.

Also keep in mind that even with an elevator, if it breaks, you will have to walk up. I'd try for a lower floor regardless. I have read many TR's where the elevator has done just that and the person had lots of stairs to deal with daily.

We have reservations here, but not till December, so can't give you first hand info.

I looked at the Angelica, first, but I see that you have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom (which I guess isn't a huge deal given that it's a studio anyway).

I actually kind of like having the loft - makes it feel like a one bedroom kinda. My room at the Bretonnier had a loft which made it feel very spacious.

I was referring to the 1st Paris Autrement apartment. The way up to the bed looks too much like a ladder to me. The Ile St Louis apt has proper steps to the loft.

I just looked at that ladder again. Good call. Not only getting up to bed but coming down in the middle of the night for any bio-needs. Not pretty.

Not uncommon when facilities have been shoehorned into old places.

Hi flygirl. I have rented your first request for info - VIP #192. How many of yiu are traveling and plan to stay there? It shows that it sleeps five. The pros, location. It's very easy to take the RER from/to CDG to Chatlet/Les Halles if you're interested. Several nearby metro stops, grocery and markets nearly outside of your door, restaurants and great patisseries. It is very near Les Halles which to me isn't the most picturesque area but tho somewhat shady I've never felt unsafe, just be aware.

The negatives are with my stay, perhaps the owner has changed. First, wi-fi didn't work well and there was very little furniture. It's a small apartment but functional, comfy bed with a slider to close from the living area but like the first photo, we only had a flat fold down type futon in the living room with no other seating other than 2 backless wooden stools. In looking at other photos I do see a white sofa and an off white chair, maybe they've added furniture but I'd get specifics if I were interested in booking. Also, the windows face a pedestrian street but on the weekend it was very noisy because of the restaurants right outside the building. We were there in November and didn't sleep with open windows but if your stay is summer I think it would be hot and hard to sleep.

Have stayed in VIP #79 which is around the corner from #192 and would stay there again.

Have you looked at VIP #201? Have stayed there and loved the location and the apartment. it is on Rivioli so in a totally different part of Paris, several buses stop right outside the doorway, very convenient and across the street from St Paul metro.

Sorry to throw more in the mix but just passing along a few others that I liked from VIP. I've also stayed in a few more of their apartments.

Flygirl, just one more comment, looking at your list the apartments from guestaparrment.com I will say they look very nice. If you're looking for something a bit more luxurious, VIP may not be for you. While the apartments I've stayed in from VIP have been comfortable enough, I don't think they of them as luxury apartments, tho I'm sure they have some also.

We have used Guest Apartment Services for 3 rentals and are using them again this October. The company is very professional, great to work with and is really interested in your enjoying your visit to Paris. In fact, on our first visit, we stayed in the Angelica. Yes, the bathroom is tiny; just enough room for one person but is very modern and has a washer/dryer combo, which is great when you are in Paris for 10 days. With the partial wall, it seems almost like a 1 bedroom apartment instead of a studio. The walk up to the third floor was really not too bad; even after walking 8-10 miles a day. The only slight drawback is the windows open to a smallish courtyard and you can hear people talking in the other apartments if their windows are open. However, after about 10pm , we did not here anything. The apartment has light but,if it is a rainy day, the light is not so good. With all that said, if we choose to rent a studio again, we would probably pick this one.

We did not pick the Daisy because we were not sure about the bedroom in the loft and the bathroom downstairs. We're not sure how we would feel about going downstairs in the middle of the night.
