If weather bad, which to go: mt titlis, pilatus, jungfrau? from zurich
I was reading that if the conditions are cloudy than it's not worth going up to jungfrau. Are Mt. titlis and pilatus better options if it's cloudy? or are they all bad options in that case? I'm thinking of taking day tours through a company (grayline, hans meier) to these places. but jungfrau is a lot more expensive than the others. would it be cheaper to do on our own with train or bus? we only have a limited amount of time in zurich so if the weather is bad both days in jungfrau, would it be better to go to titlis or pilatus?

What matter is NOT the overall weather - but the weather at the top of the mountain. Al are high enough that they can be wreathed n clouds (and you see nothing) even if it's sunny in the valley. Jungfrau - being the highest - tends to have the problem most often. We waiter 3 days in Interlaken until we got a morning clear at the top.
And you can't go from Zurich it's too far. If you get a clear morning you need to go immediately - since 3 hours later the clouds could roll in (we were lucky with Pilatus and saw everything, then sat down for lunch. By the time our order arrived it was raining (still clear and dry at lake level) and we had to go inside to eat.

IMO you need to remember that the top is not the whole point of the journey. The views going up and down to/from the Jungfrau or the trip up and back to Mt. Titlis are just as exciting in many cases but obviously not everyone agrees with me so you're on your own.

Going to the Jungfrau on your own from Zurich would take several hours of getting there and back and would not be much cheaper probably - not sure what the tour costs but on your own you would be looking at say over $200 round trip on your own. If going from Zurich take a tour - too long on your own.

Everyone - including train station and multiple websites can tell you the weather at the top of each mountain at any time.
But if you are in Zurich it may be perfectly clear when you check - and totally socked in by the time you get there.
And yes, there can be nice scenery on the way up - based on how low the clouds are. You will definitely get good view of the lower parts - but perhaps in rain.

I would not choose to do an organised tour to any of them, it's easy enough to do any of them independently, then you can take your time.>
for Titlis and Pilatus yes a snap but for the Jungfraujoch from Zurich - it's easy to do on your own but here is about what times you would expect to just get to the top:
Zurich to Interlaken-Ost station - about 1.5 hours, often having to change in Bern
Interlaken to the top at least two hours
not counting down time at the three stations you must change trains at on the Interlaken-Jungfraujoch trains
Say 4 hours each way optimum if you know what you are doing.
then even if sunny when you set out the clouds can always in that area set in quickly IME
Fare would be about $300 return on your own - just for train fares - the Jungfraujoch Railway being I think the world's most expensive train!
Stay with Titlis or Pilatus - like tipsygus says easy on your own - no reason for any tour there and weather unlikely to change in a short notice as it may with the Jungfraujoch.
