Best place to stay with car in Lake Como/Maggiore

We will be coming from the Dolomites and will have a rental car. Which town or even specific hotel would be best to stay with a car? I really don't want to park on the outskirts of town as my DH has some trouble with steep climbs. Any recs would be appreciated!

Whne we stayed there, the parking was free: http://www.ilperlo.com/

It has a small bar and a terrace where one can sit and watch the sun set over Lake Como. The rooms were clean, but I do not know if all of them have en-suite bathrooms.

Stresa and Como are flat towns and lively towns with ample parking - especially Stresa where hotels should have parking - leave car there and take boats around the lake - these lakes IME are best seen from a boat where you can see both coasts and not just one and have heavy traffic often on two-lane crowded roads and parking in place like Bellagio may require a long walk and a pretty euro cost.

Menaggio, the largest of the three mid-Lake Como towns has several hotels which offer parking.

Belvedere in Bellagio includes parking. However, Bellagio is on a hillside and it's necessary to climb stairs throughtout town.

I do not feel that Bellagio has ample parking and the drive there is not for the faint of heart.

Stresa, of course, is not on Lago Como but is on Lago Maggiore.

I find Menaggio and Lenno, both on the west shore, to be the most convenient with a car. It also gives you easy access to several Swiss destinations.

We stayed in Cannobio. Nice quiet town. Our hotel had car park.

The Hotel du Lac in Varenna has its own parking lot, and the main part of the town is flatter than Bellagio. I think Varenna is more scenic and charming than Menaggio.
