transpo from FLL to Naples, FLA
We are sending a friend on vacay...she's flying into FLL but her family lives in Naples. Need a shuttle that will take her door to door. Have looked up some but they aren't compatible with her travel times, and some aren't door to door. Kinda running out of time. Appreciate suggestions!

There is a company in Naples called Maxi Taxi, but a good guess is about $300 each way.
Rental car really IS the best way --- and the drive is incredibly easy, coming out of the airport right onto the interstates, well marked, and all the way across the state right into Naples.
Of course the alternative is for her relatives to pick her up. I sometimes fly out of FLL instead of Ft. Myers as it takes me about an hour and a half to get to FLL from downtown Naples as opposed to 45 minutes to RSW.

It's a bit insane that you are having someone going to Naples fly into FLL. I think a bus or rental car is the only choice. Even a one-way rental would probably be cheaper than a car service. It's not close ... over 100 miles.

No, I have no issue with Doug's words. He's a regular contributor, and seems to be an ok guy, even if he is an editor
I fly into FLL frequently when visiting Naples. Non stop flight from my home airport on Southwest trumps driving 3 hrs to an airport with non-stop to RSW, or connecting somewhere.
I typically rent a car so the difference in travel time from FLL vs RSW is of little concern to me, nor is trying to catch a bus.

Wow, Doug. Thanks for calling me insane! As I mentioned I have flown into or out of FLL numerous times when going to my home in Naples. It could be because of a non stop or much cheaper flight from somewhere, or simply a matter of schedule. Not everyone flies from an NYC airport with tons of options. I have often spent the extra hour and 15 minutes driving to FLL to save up to four hours in connection time! I don't call that insane at all.

Patrick: I'm assuming you own a car and drive to FLL from Naples when you fly from there. I've often had to make similar choices when I visit my dad since the closest airport is over 80 miles away and the next closest over 120 miles. I've chosen the further airport to save money and have always regretted that decision. Sorry if my phrasing seems intemperate, but it is how I feel.
I do understand that flights to and from Ft. Myers have been cut back and that connections there are not nearly as good as from other airports, so it's entirely possible that there is no reasonable connection for the OP.
Or it could be a penny-wise and pound-foolish decision given the cost of transportation to and from the airport. So far we don't know, so it's true that I should reserve my judgment for when we have full info.

Doug, I've never driven my own car when flying in or out of FLL. Usually I do a one day rental car, often around $40 total, picking up in Naples and dropping at FLL or vice versa. If i do Budget, they even pick me up or drop me off at my home for free in Naples!

Yes. The OP has not returned, just like she did not return to her TWO posts a year ago -- also in April -- despite receiving answers. Maybe posting a question every April then ignoring the answers is her idea of an April Fool's joke?
