Two Days Washington DC Spring Break w/ two kids

Have two kids ages 9 & 10 - going to Washington, DC for one or two nights. Staying at Rouge http://www.rougehotel.com/

We have been before and we live close enough to come again. We have seen the major sites/museums will likely go to the zoo haven't done that. Any off the beaten path suggestions?

Family friendly place to eat? We like Italian and my girl loves a good cheeseburger.

Thanks!

My kids really liked Mt. Vernon and the torpedo factory in Alexandria.

Hillwood
Dumbarton Oaks
Old Town Alexandria, for the Torpedo Factory and historic sites
The Lincoln Summer Cottage
The (newly restored) Masonic Rite Temple http://scottishrite.org/headquarters/visitors/

Have you toured the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress? Docent tours are well worth the time at both. Ford's Theater and the Lincoln museum across the street? Newseum? Portrait Gallery? Arlington Cemetery? Sorry, when people say they've seen ALL the major sites in DC, I am skeptical

Eastern Market, on Capitol Hill, can be fun, combined with breakfast or lunch.

Mount Vernon is a good suggestion, too.

Thanks NewbE StantonHyde and 19Ladybird67 - We have not seen ALL the major sites...have seen the monuments and air/space museum and a few other things so clearly we could do a bunch of stuff at it will all be new.

I am thinking of Mount Vernon and will learn more about the Torpedo Factory since that has been mentioned twice. The Spy Museum is appealing but I suspect it will be very crowded.

These suggestions are great I will have to draw a plan from them and keep some for a future date.
