No response yet, eh? Perhaps it is time to rethink your question. It may be that there is no air service inside Vancouver Island. The only regional airline I could find sends its flights from Victoria through the city of Vancouver to go anywhere, including the northern towns on the island. It is not a big place and largely rural.

I don't know about whether or not you can fly. We drove, and enjoyed the scenery. There's a great hiking trail, Wild Pacific Trail, down near Ucelet. It was really a treat, gorgeous scenery. We didn't hike the whole thing, but loved what we did.

raycharles, I've been watching this thread in the hopes that you got the information you are seeking. We have also toyed with the idea of visiting northern Vancouver Island - but alas, it seems more of a rugged outdoorsy adventure than we are up for; a lot of "unspoiled wilderness."

I see that Cape Scott Provincial Park is having issues with wolves vs. dogs, so of course you wouldn't want to be bringing a dog with you. Here is one link that I believe you might find helpful: http://www.vancouverislandnorth.ca/

If you do go, it would be very interesting to hear what you experienced. Good luck with your plans!

As with all of Canada the further north you wander the more likely it is that you'll be travelling by float plane-airstrips we have some but water we have in a seemingly endless supply.

A search for float planes on Vancouver Island brings up a number of options although a person has to be a diligent searcher-companies are small and it's essential to travel lightly as personal luggage allowances are low.

You may also need to fly a roundabout route which is they way of all lightly populated places-if I was headed from Victoria north I'd look for a flight to Courtenay/Comox rent a car there and then drive wherever.
