Jaipur--Jas Vilas or Royal Heritge Haveli ?
Looking for a great hotel for 3 nights in November for a mature couple Location, food, service, quiet, cleanliness are all factors. We will have a driver with us. I have checked and read numerous reviews and these two seem the best for us. I do not want to be at the Oberoi price range but we are not budget travelers. Any opinions on these two are very welcome? Thank you

We are the same demographic as you, and I am contemplating a visit to Jaipur. My agent recommended this place in the old town - http://www.sabahaveli.com/home.htm His recommendations are typically spot on.

The Jas Vilas is a family run 'Home Stay' in the posh locality of Jaipur called the Bani Park area. It is no more than 10 minutes drive from MI Road, the main artery / shopping area Jaipur. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the service, meals are good. The building itself is art-deco style of the 1950s.
The Royal Heritage Haveli has beautiful rooms, it is small and enjoy a fine reputation in the current market. It locates in Khatipura area near the Jaipur cantonment. Very ethnic and since you shall have a car, driving to old or central Jaipur is not a problem, I guess it should take about 20-30 minutes to reach these areas.
Happy Travels!

We just got back from India, and stayed at http://shahpurahouse.com/ It was absolutely wonderful, and in a lovely neighborhood. The breakfasts were excellent, and the rooftop restaurant was also very good.

I decided to book Jas Vilas for the location and reviews.
Oh, CaliNurse-I'm not too fond of monkeys. Have had my experiences with them in Bali and Malaysia. What is special about this Monkey Temple? Is it like the one near Penang?

We didn't do much research on eating spots in Jaipur before we left, and as a result, the best place we found to eat was in Shapura House's Roof top Restaurant. HOWEVER, my husband visited Crosswords Bookstore (which is fabulous BTW) and picked up a beautiful guide called "Love Jaipur" which has some good sounding recs, including one for: Anokhi Cafe (which happens to be right above Crosswords) KK Sq, C11 Prithviraj Rd open Mon-Sat 10am-8pm, Sun 9.30 to 7.30.
While you will get breakfast and dinner with your lodging, it is always nice to have something in town for a light meal after a long adventure exploring Jaipur!
