Can getting a UK Right of Abode grant me right to live in all Europe ?

Hi everyone Happy new Year! . Trust you all enjoyed your holiday! . I am about to apply for my Right of Abode outside of the UK(Nigeria) . I was wondering if it could give me rights to live and work(basically, as a seaman in transit in Germany) or is there any thing I should know/ I could get alongside my Right of Abode ?

Would love replies on the questions that will be asked as I apply for my Right of Abode by anyone who knows ..

Thanks

Best regards,
Ben

You'd need to ask the Embassy of one of the countries you want to live and work in.

If you're thinking of the EU principle of free movement of workers, AFAIK that only applies to citizens of member states, and doesn't prevent host governments from applying their own administrative procedures for registering such people and their own rules in relation to benefits.

You need British passport in order to enjoy the EU right of free movement. Right of Abode endorsement in your foreign passport isn't enough. UK no longer gives ROA to British citizens.

Thanks Alec. I'm Nigerian. British by descent(my dad). Applying in Nigeria for a ROA.
Does it mean there are no longer accepting applications for ROA ?

Things may have changed but when I applied for Right of Abode it entitled me to live and work for the rest of my life in the UK but I could not work or live in Europe.

You can still apply for ROA if you aren't already a British citizen. Presumably you are now over 18 so you can no longer get British citizenship other than by naturalisation, requiring 5 years in UK or 3 years if married to a citizen.

No, it's still 3 years, but separately for those without ROA, it now takes 5 years to gain settled status (indefinite leave to remain - it used to be 2 years), which is a prerequisite to naturalisation.
