Driving from Edinburgh to Manchester
We have one day in June to drive from Edinburgh to Manchester.
We're happy to make a day of it and to have a couple of stops somewhere interesting. Is it feasible to detour via Hadrian's wall? If that's not a possibility would somewhere in the dales be better?
As you can see, I'm somewhat undecided and a little confused.

I would agree.I have family in Liverpool and I sometime travel via Haidrians wall and do a walk from Houssteads to OnceBrewed and back which takes you right alongside the wall and actually onto part of it.

The road trip itself should take around 4 hours centre to centre-non stop. You'll have to add stops and breaks on to that. I hope that you're not doing it after a long flight? The daylight hours are obviously at their longest in June, but you'll still need to leave fairly early if you want to see and walk some of the wall.
If you're heading to Manchester for a flight, then travel a day early, just in case. If you need any recommendations for hotels, restaurants in Manchester, just ask.

Hi rubicond, there's no long flight involved. We'll have been in Scotland for 10 days before heading into England.
Our plan is to leave Edinburgh on June 6 for a flight from Manchester on June 7 which means we have all of June 6 to drive to manchester airports and stay at an airport hotel overnight.
Our plan is to be on our way by about 9am on the 6th and if we spend all day getting to Manchester that's ok.

Hi rubicond, I just read your last sentence again. I'd love a recommendation for an airport hotel if you know of any that are better than others. Up to £250 per night. We're happy to eat at the hotel that night.

the once brewed refers to the strength of the local beer in Roman times. The local beer was very weak and the soldiers preferred the beer that had been brewed twice, hence Oncebrewed and TwiceBrewed
