Does anyone know if the flamingo has Keurig coffee makers or just regular coffeemakers?? Also anyone know if slipping a $20 to the desk clerk would get you an upgrade?? Thanks for any info. Travelling there in March.

Only certain upgraded "GO" rooms/suites have coffeemakers and they are not k-cups.

Most large Vegas hotels don't have coffeemakers in the rooms, they want you up and down into the casino in the morning as soon as they can grab you. Plus, it's Vegas, who wants to maintain 4000 coffeemakers every day when there is no profit in it? Room Service!

You can easily go down to the casino and find coffee at the pastry - or at the casino next door. Hey - nobody in Vegas cares if you don't look your best at 7 AM whatever.

Moi - I like to call ahead and talk to the front desk - and try to get the person in charge of assigning rooms and schmooze a bit with them and ask what might be availabe when checking in - but now - they usually charge a bit of a premium for the view/upper rooms - which I still think is worth it if you can get a view of the Bellagio fountains. We love to start our evening having wine and cheese in the room while watching the fountains - before heading out to a show, whatever.

The only way to get an upgrade in LV is to be a big gambler or pay for a more expensive room. It's generally a myth that a tip will get you something better than you have reserved. That applies to almost every place, not just Las Vegas.

That's not true in Las Vegas, Doug. The OP has probably read lots of posts from people who have tried the "$20 trick" at the front desk and been successful. It's not really a trick at all and most front desk managers in Vegas assign each desk clerk a certain number of "upgraded" rooms to dish out provided that there is plenty of availability of course. It's a nice way to keep your desk clerks happy as it's one of the few jobs in Vegas that aren't regularly "tipped".

Have been upgraded at rooms just by first going by the hotel earlier in the morning (say 8 AM) -to ask about possible higher floors etc, and being very nice to the front desk people - and have usually gotten lucky - without tipping.

Going into a show however - always tip the head usher to get a seat in front if you want one.

Thanks for the replies everyone, since I wrote this question, our accommodations have changed, and I am now staying at Ballys and my friend is staying at Paris (which I would like to stay but Ballys is offering me comped nights).....anyone have any info on either of those properties - such as do they have coffee makers (I actually drink tea though), fridges, etc. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

No idea about coffee makers but Paris has a nice brunch/breakfast buffet - reasonably priced - where you can order Crepes made to your liking and a great dessert selection, plus other good entrees.

I last stayed at Aria, and even that hotel doesn't have coffee makers in the rooms. I am 99.9% certain that neither Ballys nor Paris will have them.

And I would add that most of the Strip hotels do have fridges but that they are minibars that can't be used to store anything of your own. But I don't know the specifics about either Ballys or Paris.

Not only can't one store things in most of the mini bars -- one can't even move things around or remove them temporarily. If something is moved off its spot/sensor in the fridge you are immediately charged for the item
