I just found this and it seems ok but the. I haven compared individual entry fees..you do have to use it on consecutive days and there's no hotel pick up but otherwise I think I'm interested...what do you folk think?

In the last six months there have been half a dozen threads about Paris passes in this forum which you find through the Search function at the top right of the page.

and all of them say the Paris Pass except for a few cases of folks who may be doing things most tourists do not do is not a good deal vs buying individual components - and things like the Navigo Pass for the metro and buses or carnets (group of ten metro tickets discounted over buying single tickets), etc. and the Paris Museum Pass

If you had compared pricing you would know that the Paris Pass is very much over priced. If you don't care about spending more money than you need to then buy the pass. It's a simple decision. My advice is to avoid the pass.

And one more that says, a ripoff. Do not buy any of the passes you may want (the museum pass) online either.

the museum pass can be bought at any participating museums - to avoid long lines at say the Louvre to buy a pass go to a lesser museum near your hotel or whatever and buy it quickly - with the pass you will visit more museums than if you had to pay.

We bought the Paris Museum Pass several years ago and at that time there was a price benefit over the regular admission fees, but the catch was you had to go to a lot of museums over a short period of time in order to realize this value. For that reason, I too would recommend taking a pass on the Pass. Paris is best when you have lots of unscheduled time to wander.

Yes you have to marshall you museums into a 2- or 4-day or 6-day period and obviously have to be going to several museums.

The Louvre alone charges 12 euros - ditto about for the Orsay, Modern Art, etc - museums which many folks go to.

A 2-day pass costs 34 euros
4-day 54 euros
6-days 69 euros

The thing I like the best is that you can come and go - priority entrance - no long waits - you do not have to spend an exhausting several hours seeing it all but can come and go

same for Orsay and other popular museums

but yes if only going to the most famous museums just pay regular price or go on Sunday when many are half-priced (Louvre free on first Sunday on month but also mobbed!)

But if you are the type who wants to go to places like the Pantheon, Ecole Militairs, Jeu de Pomme, Modern Art, Arte-et-Metiers, Quai Branly - and other major museums the pass - perhaps a 6-day one to leisurely allow visiting can be a great deal.

But for folks like Micrae who are not interested in museums then no - perhaps go on a Sunday for half price.

Not for everyone but many find the Paris Museum Pass a boon for all the ones they may want to go to - even for things like Versailles - covers complete entry fee, Conciergerie where Marie-Antoinette was held before being carted off the to the chopping block - the Sainte Chapelle or climbing the tower of Notre-Dame - all I believe covered by the pass it would be a boon.

also covored by the Paris Museum Pass - not only museums but the Arc de Triomphe, the Egouts (Sewers tour), the Crypt of Notre-Dame - St-Denis church - burial place of French monarchs - Compeigne chateau and Fontainelue, etc.

The MUSEUM pass can also be just a "stop and go in". For instance, maybe just go in to see the Lady and the Unicorn at the Cluny (but it is away now)--or just even the need for the WC!!

We made the museum pass work for us - money-wise it was about a wash, but time-wise it was a good saving over standing in line, and it allowed us to enter museums we were not too sure about - a quick look "cost nothing" if we didn't want to hang around. And we made some priceless discoveries that way that we wouldn't have otherwise, like the Dufy "Electricity" room in the Paris City museum (I think "M. de la Ville de Paris") that he did on commission for a celebration of man and energy over the millenia - absolutely astounding. (Google it - lots of pix online!)
So if you're serious about your museum goings, not just the obvious few, then the museum pass makes sense.
For transportation we just get the carnets and we walk a lot.

Some smart businessperson figured out he could buy up a bunch of entry tickets to a thousand and one things in Paris (many of which no sane person would ever consider visiting), throw them in an envelope, and charge you a REALLY hefty fee beyond what individual entry fees would be. He's laughing all the way to the bank, and yes, you'd bee a fool to buy one.

The Museum Pass, on the other hand, can be well worth it if you are interested in museums and plan well to make the most of it.

okay thank you folks for your advice...i was hoping it was a good deal especially seeing as it offered entry to versailles but i guess we dont want to be locked into museum overload either
im looking to get the two for one vouchers in london so when i came across the parispass i thought it might offer good savings too
no worries..will pick and choose carefully
