Calling Cards for Hawaii Travelers?
Two relatives are travelling to Hawaii (Maui) in January. I'd liike to get them calling cards for Christmas. They'd only be calling the mainland U.S.
Please let me know which cards will actually work for that.
So many calling cards out there, but last time we bought one for overseas travel, it didn't work.
Thank you.

I've used AT&T cards in the past. The last one I still have, doesn't expire. I needed it to call from Fiji to the US and didn't have any problems. So figure Hawaii to mainland should be fine.

I have had cards expire on me, 1 year after first use, even though this was not stated on the card.
I have used AT&T cards fine, even Wal-Mart cards, but read the fine print before you lay your money down.

If your relatives are coming to Hawaii from out of the US, I'd recommend buying them a Walmart gift card rather than a calling card. They can buy a cheap pay-as-you-go cell phone that will allow them to make unlimited local and long-distance calls. I think this will be more useful.
With a calling card alone, they will still have to buy or rent this phone to make calls, and they may have to pay a surcharge when using it from a hotel room phone. Pay phones are disappearing here, so unless they are staying at a private home, having a phone will do them far more good than a calling card alone and won't cost much more.
