Spending a week in Palm Springs in February

There are normally plenty of lodging options - so it depends on what type of accommodations prefer. Luxury - budget? In Palm Springs - or Palm Desert.
And so many things to do. Take the aerial tram up - through 7? ecological zones - to 10,000 feet, visit the Living Desert/Zoo - which has a wonderful botanical garden also, ride bikes around, visit art museums, play golf, walk/shop Palm Desert's version of Rodeo Drive - El Paseo, hike one of the Indian Canyons, eat some good Mexican food - and there is other fine dining, and on and on. http://www.visitgreaterpalmsprings.c...FeN_QgoddRcA2A

We stayed a few days at the Andalusian Court a couple of years ago - http://www.theandalusiancourt.com/ and really enjoyed it - http://gardyloo.us/20110206_2a.JPG and http://gardyloo.us/20110206_18a.JPG . Apparently Lucy and Ricky stayed there with Little Ricky, back in the day.
Aerial tram, good food (Mexican, yeah, but Sherman's Deli - oh) fab retro vibe... lots going on.
But best of all, Joshua Tree NP just an hour away. Hike to the hidden lake, look at the fantastic vegetation and rock formations, then exit via Indio for a date milkshake. GREAT day.

Nothing like providing plenty of info on which to make suggestions.
Stop in to the Tinderbox on the main street in Palm Springs. They have a great selection of cigars and pipe tobaccos. I never visit Palm Springs without visiting the Tinderbox. An absolute must do.

We're looking for a place, too for 4 or 5 nights in either January or February in Palm Springs or Palm Desert, we'd like a place with a small kitchen, around $200/night. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Trying very hard to avoid a dingy place!

We stayed at Chase, a nice quiet place just 1 block away from the main ave. and if I remember correctly, even the cheapest rooms have kitchenettes.

The Andalusian Court that I mentioned above has units (all of them?) with full kitchens, and it's right around your price point. Lovely place, very close to downtown, a couple of blocks from the Chase.

We did our own walking tour of the historical inns in PS and really liked these places: Old Ranch Inn

Things to do. We went up the PS Tram, hiked one of the easier palm canyons/oasis, went to Hadley Date Farms, walked thru the historical neighborhood's mid century motels. DH played golf,and I toured the O'Donnell House/Willows.

Two favorite places of ours were The Living Desert and the Palm Springs Museum. The latter is not very large and usually has some very nice exhibits, perfect for a couple of easy hrs. The Living Desert has some fascinating cacti, some I've never seen anywhere else before. We plan to return both places this winter.

The tram, walk of stars, visit the quaint town and museum in La Quinta. If you go to Joshua Tree National Park visit General Pattons museum if you like history. Its nearby. Visit the JW Marriott for drinks and take a city tour of Palm Springs. Was there with our family for 10 days and had a great time! Enjoy!

Thanks, sac. I tried vrbo., but not much available for our dates. We found a boutique hotel with a kitchenette on trip advisor. Will post after our holiday on whether or not to recommend. It has received good reviews, thus far. Annetti
