International trains between countries with different currencies IME may also give change in the snack bar car in euros if you pay in Czech money so czech that out en route to Dresden as a possibility.

You might as well just go to the TRAVELEX at the airport and bend over. That's the simplest thing to do.
You might get a "better" conversion rate at a change bureau in the city but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Not that I recommend it but there are people wandering around Prague that will change money for you at better rates than the change bureau and banks, but you better know what the Euro bills are supposed to look like, ifyouknowwhatimean.

Why not? If it is because you worry about theft and access to your account by someone else, there are precautions that can be taken that are transparent: 1. open an account in a credit union that holds only your travel money for that trip in its checking account. 2. Use only ATM attached to banks, preferably found in the entry way rather than street side.

Lets keep the discussion polite! Can we dispense with the snide remarks and just provide some constructive advice on where to get the best exchange rate (without using an ATM).
Ok so it may not be the BEST rate- I can live with that- so what are my options. By the way I do not walk around with a fat stack of bills in my pocket.

The Reisebank is in the main hall in the main train station in Dresden, not to miss. I have seen long lines there at times, though.
Do you really want to get a taxi if your hotel is right in the old town? It's not that far, even walkable (5-10 minutes probably along pedestrian zones), and the tram service is very frequent.
